Astro A50 Driver Update

ASTRO Gaming A50 Headset Firmware Update Tool / Firmware 1.4.-07-09 It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available. Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. The A50 is a nice improvement over the Astro A30 we’ve reviewed before but also can seem intimidating to set up to the uninitiated. Fortunately, getting it up and running isn’t really too hard, though it is possible to run into a couple of niggles along the way.

UPDATE: It works, my A50's sound so doooooope.

Hi everyone,

I'm posting my issues with the new A50 (PS4) just in case someone else is having similar problems. I've emailed Astro and will edit my post if they have provided a solution. Any help is appreciated.

I've just received the Gen 3 A50 for PS4 / PC in the mail on Monday October 31, 2016. Package was not damaged at all and the product was carefully handled upon opening. Charged up to 50% before I decided to update the firmware. Everything was fine until the update. According to the Astro Command Center (ACC) the firmware was successfully updated. However, since the update the headset will not turn on. Meaning there is no red/amber light on the headset. However, I am still able to toggle the Dolby Digital Option, which means that the headset is somehow still connected to the base, but will not turn on for gaming. The PS4 recognized the Base stand, as the options for audio output game me the option to select the A50 headset. I believe the option relies within the headset itself. Thank you for your assistance.

EDIT: I think I found the solution (currently at work so I'm unable to try it. However its worked for several people)

Switch the headset to ON, hold down Dolby and GAME for 30 seconds and it will force restart the headset.

If your audio and gaming systems are configured exactly as detailed in the above setup video and the issue persist, please try the following:

• Reseat the A50 Headset with the Base Station by seating the headset properly (Ear cups should not be outwardly angled) in the Base Station’s cradle while the Base Station is powered on. Your microphone should match up with the indent in the cradle and the A50’s LED should illuminate amber when charging.

• Disconnect then reconnect the power cable from the Base Station.

• Hard reset your A50 Headset by simultaneously holding down the DOLBY Button (Button between Power switch and EQ switch) and Game side of the Game/Voice Paddle on the A50’s right ear cup.

• Using the Micro USB cable from the Base Station, try connecting your A50 Headset directly with your console to charge.
